Causes: In most cases, the cause of sideroblastic anemia is unknown some cases result from drug and alcohol reaction.Sideroblastic (sidereal, iron; blast, immature health red cell) anemia occurs when developing red cells suffer a chemical imbalance that prevents them from effectively converting iron into hemoglobin. The young health red cells in the marrow are filled with iron, but the mature red cells released into circulation are small and pale.
