Health Tips - Receiving Blood

After cross-matching, the appropriate donor health blood is transfused into a vein in your arm. Normally, one unit of blood is transfused over a period of one to four hours, but in an emergency, a unit may be given in a couple of minutes. The amount of blood needed depends upon the amount of blood lost or the severity of your anemia. During transfusion your pulse, health blood pressure, and temperature are checked regularly.
